cdrom reading error [Archive]

Hi,

Recently I have encountered an error when I try to play music cd's in my cdrom drive.

The exact error is:

The system cannot read from the device specified.
Error# 8007001E

This occurs on both original and copied audio cd's. My cdrom drive is a Sony CDU5211.
I hope someone can help me.

only music cds? or all cds?

I can't say whether it was just audio cd's or cdroms too as I haven't tried with a cdrom disc.
I think I know what it was though. I had Windows Media player 9 (beta version) installed, and, come to think of it, I never had any trouble until I installed it.
A friend of mine has the same problems and he has the beta version installed too.
I got rid of Windows Media player and installed Winamp and it seems to have fixed the problem.
