How old is your PS2?
Do you know what model version it is?
When you say professionally installed, how professional do you mean, did he come recommended by somebody?
How long have you had your Magic chip?
I presume that originals loaded up before the chip was installed.
Have you managed to boot up any games at all since the chip was installed?
my ps2 is a SCHP-30001 V5 I have had it for about a year and the problem started just before i got the magic chip installed by a very recommended installer I've been asking around and most seem to think it's a laser problem

yep sounds like laser then
you could try replacing it? save buying new PS2 + Mod
just a thought
i know i'm relativly new at all this but from my exeriance in the past nero isn't the best for writing in mode 2 the same way cdrwin does i have had this problem with nero unless you do a disc to disc copy on the fly.
unfortunatly i don't have a solution either because i can't get PrimoDvd o work and tll you if that's any better - worth a try though :)

Griffo: Where did you download Primo DVD from....?
If you still can't get it to work, let me know and I will send you the newer version along with the PXengine update....I also use Windows XP (Professional Edition) and Primo works fine with it...
i downloaded primodvd 2 and the pxpatch thing and after I installed it and loaded it up it comes up with that error.
the patch didn't help, it's been rebooted 6-7 times and reinstalled 4 times and it still wont work.
