Sounds like 3d card prob 2 me, wat u got?
Add this line to the bottom of the Hitman2.ini file
EaxDisable
That should fix it.

I've been trawling the net for an answer to this problem for some time now so thanks very much for the solution. Just to add some info, the same symptons occured with my system running WinXP,however on my sons pc running ME there were no problems at all, any light on that...?
Thanks Again

Its a soundcard problem. Basically its a kind of Bug with the Soundblaster 128 (soundcard) range . On 1 of my machines I have to use that line in the INI (It has a SB128 in it). On my other machine I dont have too (That has a SB Audigy in it). Maybe your sons ME machine does not have a SB 128 card in it??

I have a soundblaster 16 in my PC and I had to add the line. I think its a general problem with the soundblaster cards...
Ahhh K. I stand corrected ;)
Maybe it only affects older Soundblaster Cards??

I know it's an old one, but I haven't got the money to buy me a better/newer soundcard. Last month my harddisk got broken and before that my cd-recorder so i had to buy a new recorder and now I have to safe money to buy a new harddisk. So you see these things are more important to renew than the soundcard. I didn't want to correct you, i am not a "better-knower" or in german "Klugscheißer"! I just want to add this information for others.
Ones again: Thanks @ BountyWarrior!!!
I applied the patch and it still asks for the cd, I belive that there is two types of patch could someone give me the details and locations of these little bas.... buggers
Cheers

R.E: EAX Disable ini line.
I had this problem too, but before I decided to go online for help, I actually read the readme file from the game directory, which told me the same answer!!! It saved me hours of trawling the internet for the answer......so, perhaps there's a lesson there!

Hi
This is what I found in the readme
ć Muffled audio or looping audio when EAX is enabled: Certain sound cards are not EAX compatible. Please check to see if your sound card supports EAX. If you have enabled EAX in your sound options, and you noticed that your weapons sound muffled of certain sound effects are repeating then your card most likely does not support this feature. Disabling EAX in the sound options menu should clear up the audio problems.
I could'nt get to the sound options let alone disable the EAX Option

Well either your copy came with a different readme file, or you didn't look hard enough. Paragraph 1.3 Known Issues reads as follows;
If you suffer a crash as you start-up Hitman 2 you should try adding the text “EaxDisable” (without quotes) at the bottom of the Hitman2.ini file that you will find in your Hitman 2: Silent Assassin directory. This will disable the testing of EAX on your sound card and is a known workaround for the SB PCI 128 sound card.
How much clearer does it need to be?

Well Smartass

sorry Smiffy23 but the Baron is right. I've got the german version and it's exactly the translation of the Text the baron has posted:
Maybe Smiffy you have a different version as we have. It is possible!!! And by the way: how old are you both to argue with each other via the internet???
