I have been trying to make a backup copy of the new sims unleashed so I do not have to get the cd from the other computer in the house when I want to play as well. I have tried to understand and do what different progrms said to do with no luck. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? It keeps coming back saying insert correct cd and try again on each copy I try to make
yes it can be, lots of ppl have already done it, myself included...
used discdump (safedisc setting, 8x read, LG GCE-8400B) to create an image, burnt back with Nero 5.5.9.0 (DOA/96, 8x)
worked in dvd reader, haven't tried it in the burner yet, gonna try it tonight just to see what happens.

I must not understand something then. I downloaded some programs and tried to follow them with no luck.
I have clonecd and 2 cdrw drives one is internal the other is external.
I think I must be simply not grasping all of this since I am new at this but wanted to try when the game pulled that nonsense on me. I have working cipies of the rest of our sims versions
what are the brand and model of the burners u have?
try using the programs i mentioned as well
get discdump and it's frontend from the cd reading utilities at cdmediaworld.com

the internal drive is a lite-on ltr-24102b and the outboard one is a phillips pcrw404 both are supported by clonecd.
I will get the program and try that once I understand how to use it.
I appreciate all the help here on this forum

now it says my aspi is way outdated and I went to the site it said to and they are offline for a while while restructuring
try neros or roxios software to download those

I'm having the same problem... trying to find a place to get an ASPI update that will make DDump happy. Tried Roxio and Nero and even Microsoft...
Doesn't work when copied with BlindRead and Insektors.
Please help... :)

Downloaded ddumo, then nero when I use d dump it says layers way out of date. WHen I use nero it gets read errors all the time so nothing copies either.
I guess this must be way beyond my grsp
make sure your ddump version is 1.10
your frontend is 1.4a3
your aspi is 4.6
and your nero is 5.5.9.0
if anything is newer versions then it doens't matter
these exact versions is what i have used

These 2 I have no idea what you are even talking about
your frontend is 1.4a3
your aspi is 4.6
The others I have now and can not find any place to aspi either
ok then
u have to have aspi layer installed for ddump to work correctly
the frontend is a windows program to make ddump much easier to use - u don't need it but it's beats using the dos commands
u can get the front end here http://www.cdmediaworld.com/cgi-bin/dlcmw.cgi?DDump_Frontend_v14a3!zip
get the lastest aspi driver (4.71) from here http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?sess=no&cat=/Product/ASPI-4.70&filekey=aspi_v471.exe
there u go, now u should have everything u need
if it still doesn't work then chances r it's your burner

LOL!
Normally Smithers is doing this for me, but he is ill today, so my own old fingers have to creep over the keyboard.
Damn, I hate Smithers.

I finally downloaded all that I was to and unzipped and checked to ensure my cdrw unit are support and still do not understand how to install the new aspi stuff. I fear this has become something way over my head.
I really appreciate the guidance and information given here.
I have found this group to be so much more supportative than other places I have looked to.
unzip it all to an easy to remember directory
run the ms-dos prompt and go to the directory u unzip it all to
if u r running windows 98, ME, NT & 2000 type in:
install.bat x86
if u r running xp type in:
install.bat xp32
then restart your pc and u should be set
