For less buck Neo.2.2 or direct boot chip of Magic2.
Or wait for the Matrix2 chip. Direct Boot.

In my opinion...Definately go with a direct boot chip like A03 said....
Also.....BE WARNED.....If you V1 is well used, you may end up having to replace the laser, so it will read DVD-R's......:cool:

A magic 2 wont work with a v1 if you have the wrong bios. I found that out the hard way. I bought a magic 2 and sent in my ps2 to get it installed and $120 later found out it wont work($30 to ship it there and back and $90 for the chip.) You need to have the 020 bios for it to work. Most have the 010. The only way of knowing this is by opening up your ps2. By the way, I am stuck with a useless magic 2. If anybodys interested let me know.
