I have a SCPH-30004R and i wanted ti chip it, so i bourght a Magic 2 chip from www.divineo.co.uk where they actually sell it reallt cheap... but is is'nt specified which version the chip was
made for ;(
They just write:
"The chip is compatible with all V7 3900x models (USA/PAL/JAP), and the V5 & V6 (R models)"

But is'nt the chip for V7 and the chip for V5/V6 separeted in two chips?

But the problem is that i bourght now, and i need to find out where to solder on the chip.. and for that i need to identify the chip... But is there anyway to du that...?

The chipboard is green and it say "MAGIC-2" and underneath that "M2-v3.0"...

Is that enught for identifycation?

This is a copy and paste directly form the Magic 2 website:
For marketing reasons and to stop confusion we have decided to seperate the v5/6 (R type) and V7 magic chips. Please use only the "R" for the version 5 and 6, and the "V7" for the version7. Future magic2 V7 chips will not support v5/6 machines.

Here is the diagram for your V5 machine:
Although you said your chip says "MAGIC-2" and underneath that "M2-v3.0"...
The Chip on this diagram says "Magic-2" and underneath that "M2-v2.0"...

Don't know if this will help or not....

Thanks, now i know where to solder on my PS2 board, but what about "M2-v3.0"-thing?

Is it maybe because the manufactor didn't want to take pictures of all the chips, because the look alike, and they didn't count on any one trying to read it?

But if this is an "old"-version of the chip, both used with v5/v6/v7, how do i connect the 4 solder points on the print?
I can only see v4,v5 and v6 options....

You are right, you often gamble when you buy it cheap ;) But i hope to find help here ;)

Just need to hear from anyone who has installed/configured a R/V7 chip?

Sorry guys, but i live in Denmark...
Or else i would be more than happy paying Charlie_PS2 for it. (He seem quite skilled :) )

But do you think i got the right chip for the job? If yes, how do i connect the four solder points?
