View Full Version : Import Games for ps2 black and white
Im playing my demo (pal) cd right now how come its in black and white? i dont know if all import games are in black and white since i have it plugged into a usa outlet. any ideas or suggestions?
You answered your own question.."PAL" on NTSC..
so your saying since i have a pal system hooked up to a converter which is hooked up to my usa outlet it will only give me black and white games? no way of getting color out of it?
It has nothing to do with the convertor you mention...The convertor you have is for the power of the PS2......
To get PAL games to display in color on your NTSC tv you will need to buy a PAL-NTSC convertor for your tv.(or you can try to find a PAL-NTSC patch for the game) Or you can go out and buy a multi-system tv....

no u dont m8 just bye a good skart lead .the one that comes with the ps2 is not a real skart lead. this is how your having problems . i got ntse. & pal games and they work fine with my new skart but if i use the one that came with my ps2 my games play in black & white i got a pal /ntse tv but it still played in black & white till i got the new scart
Most standard US tv's DON'T have a scart input.....This is the reason he needs a PAL-NTSC convertor....:cool:

He's not in the UK..........
He's in the US.....He's got a PAL PS2 just like I do (and I'm also in the US)

why you want a pal ps2 m8
Mainly because at the time I purchased it there were no other "Direct Boot Mod Chips" except for the Messiah....Since the Messiah only worked on PAL PS'2 (with the exception of the US V4) I purchased a PAL system...

Ya i live in the Us (California) What is a good ntsc-pal converter Do you have one BG? If so what one you got, and how much? Im intersted in getting one but dont knwo if ill get many imports games but just in case if its CHEAP ill buy one. Let me know thanks.
First....You don't need a ntsc-pal.....You need the opposite, a PAL-NTSC.... I haven't got one yet....I'm going to get one in the near future.....Also, have you tried playing any PS1 games (originals or backups) on your ps2.... I'm interested to see if they play in black and white also.....Try it if you can and let me know...

has something but I fear they are expensive. The ones available in the USA are around $300 I believe.
Incidentally NTSC-PAL converors are less than $80.

how dont you all bye a tv with a scart lead and it will play ok
and you will get a better pic the usa still useing uhf wow hard to beleve bg do you play all your games in black &white then
Ps1 and Import games are in black and white, ps2 games are in color

NO.....Everything Plays in color except for PS1 games.....And by the way....The picture is PERFECT.......(HDTV):cool:

you have all lost me if you are all in the usa then what is an import to you.? if you are useing a usa ntsc then pal is import but if you are using a pal ps2 then ntsc is import .am i right so how did this thred start wasint it some person not geting ps2 games to work in coler now its ps1 games
If you would have read the threads you would know how it started......
He was booting a PAL demo cd.....Which would be a import as far as his TV is concerned (The Messiah modded PS2 doesn't care)....
A NTSC TV will not display PAL format in color......(On mine the screen will roll also)
Also, when a PAL PS2 w/messiah boots a NTSC PS1 game (original or backup) the output from the PS2 is in PAL format (even though the game is NTSC)
SO even a PS1 game plays in Black and White....
But when the PAL PS2 w/Messiah boots a NTSC PS2 game (original or backup) the output from the PS2 is in NTSC format thus they play in color....

ok m8 im with you now pal is import evin when you got a pal ps2. got it now i didint know that so if you want to play pal games on your pal ps2 you need a PAL-NTSC convertor. how do you want to play pal games any way most of them have black borders and the usa ver of the game is usely out b4 the pal game stick with ntsc i am in the uk and i get all my games ntsc its got a better pic with no borders on it
