I've tried around 6 diffrent types of regular cdr media burned at 4x and loading a game makes my ps2 sound like its dying. Is it possible to just burn these regular cdr games on dvdr? Don't wanna make a coaster.
What type of problem are you having? What type of mod chip do you have? What type of cd burner do you have? What version is your PS2? What type of media are you using?

I got a new v7 Ps2 using a liteon burner and i burn constantly at 4x. I use clone cd. Ive used all sorts of diffrent cd media tdk, memorex etc i cant remember. I just noticed even original ps2 cdrs make it sound like its working the laser harder.

oh yeah its an apple chip
Did you buy the V7 pre-modded or did you install the chip.... It sort of sounds like the laser is having a hard time focusing.... Which it shouldn't considering that its new... My V5 never makes a sound.... It could be that the laser is not adjusted correctly....

Yeah I got it premodded. Generally do CD's make more noise than dvds? Assuming you are using originals. Because when i pop in an original cd ps2 game it makes this high pitched noise kinda like a chalkboard scratch.
Might want to consider sending it back to whoever you bought it from along with you complaint.... As I stated earlier.... My V5 never makes a sound......I could understand if it ONLY made weird sounds when playing backups, BUT since it does it on ORIGINALS, to me sounds like something it not quite right.....
Maybe Charlie_PS2 will post his idea here.....
