View Full Version : 1:1 Copy of UT2003?
Hey everyone. I just preordered UT2003 and I'm waiting for it to come in. I was just wondering if anybody has made a 1:1 copy of the CD's so far. I've tried the search button and it seems nobody on here has done it. I see on gamecopyworld that it uses SafeCast CD protection, but it says there is no known method of working around SafeCast. Question is: if anybody knows how to make 1:1 copies of the CD's please give me a breif explanation on how to do so. BTW, the copies I need are for personal back-up.
Thanks in advance

The copy protection is Securom New (Very New Securom New)
It has not been copied yet :( The protection has been heavily updated and seems to have beaten all writers amazingly. This will not however last long, as someone will soon find out how it works and Olli will sort it. :)
Thanks for the reply. I have the Sony CRX195E1. Does this mean I will need a newer burner capable of copying the new Securom or will getting past it be software based?
Thanks

I believe it will be software based - as long as your writer is capable of reading and writing subchannel data. Just a matter of time in my opinion for this to be solved.
Okay sounds good, thanks for the help.

I made a 1:1 copy of UT2003 german version with fantom-cd v. 1.2.1 and it does not work in fantom virtual drive and in demon tools virtual drive v. 3.20. I read it out as MDS file.

Hey, i made a copy of UT2K3 spanning 3 discs, i just copied all the files on the discs to their respective folders on the hard drive (ex. UT2K3_CD1 - <folder>UT1) and then burnt it each one to a disc. It installs fine, you just need to download the cracked no-cd *.exe from gamecopyworld.
Voila, you gots a copy....

I never claimed to have made a 1:1 copy, i just tell ya how i do it, i don't bother making a 1:1 if i can just download a *.exe to replace it, just easier for me...
I have made a 1:1 copy using these settings, I have no technical
background I just used different settings to give it a try and these have worked, plays and installs from both of my drives no problems, can't explain why they just do.

how come your 4x write wrote at 8x ? also - thats not a 1:1 copy - AWS is checked.
I suppose it's because it's a Liteon and only writes as low as 8 despite me choosing 4 speed, and as i said I have no technical knowledge about why it worked it just does, I have tried it on 3 other PCs all with different drives and configs, so who cares if you don't rate it as a 1:1, I don't know what the difference is with AWS ticked or not, all i know is it worked with it ticked, it works for me and if it installs without any cracks, patches on mine or other pc's then I would consider that a success wouldn't you?
But then again perhaps not hey!

I have no intention of entering into a long winded posting frenzy trying to prove that it worked for me, I use my backup version to play the game with my original stored away, purely to save finacial costs incase of damage, i'm sorry if you don't believe it I really am, but I cant prove it without breaking pirating laws by sending a working backup to someone who will qualify my post.

Hi podunkviller, that's nothing unusual matey, my 24102B when using CloneCD does the very same thing. Does not matter if I select 1x write it'll still write at 8x, I personally think this is why the 24102B is having problems with the newer protections, it's writing way too fast .... :);)

Not even if £££ are mentioned?
Well, I don't know what you guys call 1to1 recording, but I bought UT2003 yesterday afternoon and decided first to make a back-up! Before doing this I read the threads in this forum and was not too confident of success.
I'm running WinXP Pro on a fairly old P3 with 480MB RAM and a GeForce 64MB graphics card. (not entirely state of the art for this game!). My CDRW is a Ricoh MP7163A which is not listed as capable of DAO RAW on Ricoh's website.
Anyway, I downloaded the latest Clonny from GCW and I already had installed the latest version of CloneCD. I put the CD1 in my DVD Drive (a fairly old Toshiba) and started Clonney. It detected the Securom protection and the nominated settings were automatically loaded into CloneCD and the copying to file started. At the end of this I did a staright burn. The 2nd and 3rd disks aren't protected so you can copy these normally.
From the copied CDs I installed the program in my second PC (a P2 with 300+MB) and it installed OK! There was some question about DirectX 8.1b, but after installing this it runs fine! I can't tell you guys how, or why - but it works!
i dont know what 1.1 copying is either but i copied ut2003 2 days ago and no problem,i copied the 1st disc with cd clone and the other two with nero,i then installed it on my system with the backup cds not original and swaped out the .exe, its running sweet.

oh yeah what is a 1.1 copy

a 1:1 copy is when u dont have to use a fixed exe in order to run your backup or have to select 'special' settings in Copying programs in order to make the backup run.
I'm glad it's not just me who is able to copy it, it seems I'm nothing special then, that's OK with me, well done guys and thanks for letting others know you copied it and to those who mailed offering money for a copy NO CHANCE it's only £27 at http://www.playserver3.com/play247.asp?
I'll tell you guys somethin' else. I resurrected our oldest PC this morning. It's a Pentium 2 350MHz. Not been used for one year! I updated the RAM to 256MHz and installed a copy of XP Pro that my sister won in a prize draw yesterday! It's fast enough - believe me!
I just finished installing UT2003 from the back-up disks. It took ages cause the CD-ROM is a 16 x. The CD speed makes it a little jerky, so I reckon to install the No-CD crack to see if it improves, which I'm sure it will!.
Now, according to the book of words the MINIMUM processor that can handle this game is a P3 or Athlon 733MHz. That's just bullshit and I'm wondering who is kidding who?

So your running this game on your p2 350mhz, with all graphics options on and good frame rates? :)
I have a friend who has a p3 700 and it runs and looks like crap, trust me the processor and grpahics card make all the difference, im positive your p2 350mhz cant run this game, and if it does because it has a decent graphics card, it wont run it very well.

All this talk about simply copying Securom New makes me wonder : how are the guys in question sure that their discs are protected with securom in the first place ? With safedisc 2 there are some files in the main cd directory that you can look for, and clonyxxl recognizes them, but is there a way to determine that securom new was used ? I'm beginning to think that only some regions have protected cd's, and the others have unprotected cd's. To verify this we have to determine that the guys with easy copies that work, actually have protected discs. Can ClonyXXL scan for Securom New ? I've tried it a few times with my Warcraft III original, but it didn't find anything. I know for sure that there have been games in the past that came out with safedisc 2 in Europe and unprotected in the USA.

The UT2k3-Version i own is for sure protected with Securom (Version 4.83.55.0017 to be exact). But nonetheless i managed to BURN A 1:1 COPY!
For all of you wondering how: I used the Blindwrite Suite Version 4.2.2.12 to do the Job including the "Physical CD characteristic dumper". And it worked!
Okay, it heavily searches on the copy when starting the game, so it´s not a perfect copy at all, but after a while it finds enough "good" physical structures on the copy to bypass the protection.
:D
If a copy works, and no NO-CD crack is needed - why want a 1:1 copy? Whats the difference then?
why can't you make a copy from a copy and what do you mean by BLACKLISTED?
Vluka is right about the not being able to make a copy from the copy.
Try and backup your copy using the process u did to create it and you'll see what is meant.

'Cause it's not 1:1? As for blacklist - Sony can render those copies unusable with any upcoming SecuROM revision - maybe next update to Your favourite game will have it and copy of that game may stop working with that update.
uhm,i was just wondering how would you reliably detect twin sectors with the same content? the only way i could imagine
would be by reading the data track as audio. but only very few drives can do that.
btw amplified weak sectors are no 1:1 copy either. you can detect it very easily. on lots of drives you can even tell real (c2) bad sectors from faked ( clonecd's wrong edc sectors ) bad sectors.
the reason that sd2 doesnt check this is simple: compatibility...
Aha, I think I get it. I don't like Sony though, I like copies!

so in general can you make a 1:1 copy of any of the latest games ? and if not what is the best possible senareo where you can install and run the game from the copied cd and possibly make a copy from the copy too.
