What version ps2 is the newest and best one?

Hi, i would just like to know which version PS2 is the newest and best,since i'm probably getting a new ps2. I've heard the newer versions or models have some kind of laser improvements?! Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your help.

The V7 is the newest at the moment... If you go to any local Wal-Mart, that is most likely what you will get.... The newer PS2's (ie. V5 and later) has better lasers..... As with anything, the longer a product is out, they come up with improvements.....:cool:

do you know how to find what version is which on the ps2 or on the box?thanks

On the back of the PS2 there is a SCPH ####### if it says this its a V7:
SCPH-39001
If it says SCPH-30001R its a V5 or V6....(Make sure there is a R at the end....)
There were a FEW V4's with a R but I doubt you will get one at a store now.... :cool:

The back of the PS2 box may have this number also.... I'm not sure....:cool:
