Hi ya, I was trying to backup my Tekken 4 pal the other day and it failed to boot. Out of all the games I've successfully backed up in the past, this one just wouldn't work. I have a pal PS2 V4 modded with the Messiah. Can anyone confirm if a patch is needed for Tekken 4? if there is, then I guess the Messiah can't bypass all protection out there :)

But this is a Messiah......... mmm well I can give it a try but will it work if I just patched the not working backup or do I have to create another image from the original?

I have downloaded this patch but have no idea how to apply it. I want to back it up onto DVD-R media not CD-R does anyone have any suggestions?

If you are talking about the DVD version. I dont think it needs to be patched for EA. If you have the ripp then an EA patch may be necessary or at least helpful.

Just so you know if you wanted to patch a ps2 dvd game get PPF-O-Matic v3 and that will allow you to patch dvd images (.gi).

That same version will still do your old .ppf patches too to .bin files.

Thanks, But I'm trying to backup the DVD original to a DVD-R. I have had a messiah chip in my machine for ages and everythig has been working sweet so I really do think this version (PAL) must have some sick protection that the Messiah cannot bypass. The thing is I have no idea what patch to use.......

If u got a messiah chip install in ur ps2 v4 than it should read ur dvd-r game but if u got an early V4 than posibility the laser is getting weak and at the same time the media that u use could make the diffirent. But if u use a better media it might make a diffirent..........Its worth give it a try.......

By the Tyler its nice to know that PPF-O-Matic v3 can patch the .gi file.I haven done patching for years..

Thanks 4 the info...

Thanks for the info. But I know my laser aint weak and my media is fine! I've used them with over 20 other titles. I'm using the DataSafe Gen 3 White Top, perfect for PS2. This game must need a patch. You could even experiment for yourself. I'll try it again normal then if it fails I'll let you guys know and try the patches featured on MegaGames.

Try using Primo DVD.... A couple of people I have talked too had the same problem you have, although it was on a different game, and they were using Nero.... They tried Primo DVD and the game worked 1st try..... Worth a shot.....
Charlie_PS2 wrote a tutorial for using Primo... Get it here:Primo Tutorial (http://www.psxcopyworld.co.uk/Primo_Tutorial.htm)

Just tried making an image file from Primo and it gets to about 90 something % and says completed with errors, then there is no file present. This game must have protection. Anyone with suggestions?

You wouldnt happen to have a severly scratched disc, would you? That may also be the problem you are having.

This game came out Friday, I don't think the disc can go that bad in a week, I do take care of my games :). Anyway I tried my original PaRappa the Rapper 2 and it done the same thing in Primo (Completed with Errors) so I think I aint building the Image properly. Can someone take me through a step by step guide on how to do so. I tried the psxcopyworld tutorial but that didn't work. I have Primo DVD 2.0 btw. Oh yeah and when I go to Disc Explorer and Drive Properties, under the name of the drive im using as the source it has "CD Text Read", as I'm building an image out of a DVD shouldn't this be something like "DVD something" instead? Anyway I have no idea so I was hoping one of you guys could help me out :( ?
