Hello 2 Dust, Charlie, BG, and the others.

Is it worth me updating my firmware on my A04 DVD writer to Fw1.20, or leave it with fw1.30 that the drive came with?

Also, if so could u give a step by step on how to do it.

Thanx

i heard rumours 1.30 caused problems

i have fw1.31 posted on www.cdrinfo.com or is it .co.uk
drive seems to b multi region all my multi region dvds (lol 2) were destoyed in my house fire so i havent tested it yet
everything else seems to work fine with no problems at all

cdrinfo ive always found reliable but b aware 1.30 or 1.31 is not official release use at your own risk

1.31 to install u just click file it does the work :)

What sort of problems did you hear about the Fw1.30?

Oh, another thing, have u tried copying DVD movies that are under 4.7Gb?. Cos i'm trying to copy BioHazard 5th Anniversary "Weskers Report", as every time i use Nero5.5.9.9 to burn image 2 disc, the DVD Hangs on a black screen just after the (PLAY> icon appears.

Tried Primo but that has failed again for me, wont even read the disc.

Thanx.

Did you play the movie on your pc in full before attempting a copy? There are protections that can be remedied if you play the disc on your pc before attempting a copy.

NOTE:

It is always best to play the entire movie because sometime the protections are scattered throughout the entire disc inluding towards the end of it.

No, i put it in my PAL V4 Messiah PS2 straight away after i burned it and booted as the same as my other DVD's.

to copy a dvd film u must decrypt it first to the hardrive remove protection
u must run ifo edit get vts sectors even if u not changed anything (dvd5-dvdr)
if not film will not play on a standalone

I dont think you understood what I asked HANS, most of the time you can bypass some of the protection from a dvd if you play it on the PC that is going to back it up.

No i didn't, so really you have to rip the DVD to Hd first, even if it's under 4.7Gb, and remove the protection and then burn it back to disk?

Change of subject, going back to the beginning of my post, regarding the A04 firmware. Does anyone know what new fixes Fw1.31 has and is it reliable for copying PS2 DVD games.

Thanx.

Ps, don't mean to be a pain in the ass asking this questions, but there's no harm in asking. Lol!

rip to hardrive remove protection i use dvd decrypter there r many others out there
run it through ifo edit get vts sectors
yes u have to do this if u want it to play in anything
probably ifoedit will confuse u
i have guide im putting together for copying dual layer to dvdrs main movie only .this will explain how to do the ifo edit bit its very easy and quick
i will try to incude time permitting a piece on dvd5 copying and maybe a dual layer to 2 dvdr including the extras
but dont hold your breath im making tutorial simple so anyone can do it
it is very time consuming

as for the 1.31 i answered u in email i have 1.31 i have np with it

as for the difference between 1.30 and 1.31 i have no idea just that 1.31 corrected a small bug that was apparent in 1.30(no idea what it was)

That tutorial would be most appreciated. I have a question though. Do you need a modchip to play movie dvdr's?
