U cant just copy the dvd movie (original) to dvd-r..It wont work that way.
Normally all dvd movie (original) is duel layer or they call DVD9 which mean they r about 9G in capacity.
The only way u can copy them is to rip the movie under 4.7G before u can burn it into a dvd-r but BTW this way time is consuming and I strongly dont like to do myself

But at the end is up to U.................

primo dvd to burn your movies standalone and ps2 plays them

nero (5.5.64 my version)will burn them but ps2 wont play them standalone will

to strip movies to a single layer disk use ifoedit
as said above stripping can b hard
im in progress of writing a fools guide to dvd film ripping with ifoedit

some movies will fit on single layer when extras so on r removed

some r still to big then u have the option
1 split to 2 dvdr

2 reencode bitrate(downgrade picture quality) i not use this as it loses quality and takes a long time athlon 1.7xp 512ddr geforce 3 ti500 takes about 6 hours to process

personally i use dvddecrypter as smart ripper has failed to remove the decryption in the past

tmpgenc is for reducing the bitrate i recomend that u not do this if it wont fit dont downgrade it split it to 2 dvdr

if u do reencode it here a bit of info for u
tmpgenc does better job quality (but less compatibility with standalone and ps2

rempeg has slightly less quality but better compatability

i have reencoded wit both
both looked as good as each other

as stated above rempeg played on all systems
tmpgenc had problems on some standalones not work in ps2(was an old versin wether newr version is better i not know

the best thing i can recomend is wait for my guide

As I say I hardly try myself bcause time consuming but if u can reduce the time than I will be interested to give it a go!!

most films i can have ready to burn in just over 1 hour

if its a long film haarry potter, lord of the rings rings then it nedds splitting to 2 dvdr takes bit longer still under 2 hours

its that re encoding u do with tmpgenc that takes all the time
i not do this as it ruins the dvd quality and TAKES TOO LONG
