Various websites are advertising the Pioneer A04 and the Pioneer 104

Can someone tell me the difference between the two?

Cheers

The only difference between the 104 and the A04 is:

104 is the OEM version..(Bare drive usually no software or cables included)

A04 is the Retail drive...(Various software included along with the retail box and all cables)

The drives are the same. (EXACTLY the same)

Hope this helps....

single layer r cheaper and easier to produce

Thanks for the advice, I heeded the words of wisdom and now have a brand spanky A04 fitted.

Now I just gotta understand the rest of this thread!

Eks, double layered? Whats that about?

As far as dual layered games are concerned DON'T even worry about it right now.... There are only 2-3 games like that.... So that leaves 99.9% open for you to burn....
Dual layer games are about 9 gigs in size, thus we can't copy them YET!
If these type of games become standard, it won't take very long before someone figures out a way to copy them.

BUT that is still NOT going to help on Dual Layered PS2 games...
Oh well..... If dual layer games become standard, someone will figure out how to copy them or some company will come out with a dual layer capable dvd burner... We will just have to wait and see...

The only way I can see anything LIKE what you mentioned would be to rip the game on 2 DVD-R's..... Sounds like a PAIN to me.... We will just have to wait and see what the GENIOUS minds can come up with....
