Welcome to Capcom's Dino Stalker, an instalment in the Dino Crisis series. Capcom has taken the First Person Game and put a twist to it. You can use the GunCon2 to shoot, plus you can move where you want to. That is right you control where you are going, not some stupid track system that is usually in these types of games.
Story
This is from the intro and the manual. In the year 2009 some sort of ecological disaster happens that causes the United States to time warp the creatures from the Cretaceous period to the future, so that mankind would be saved.
Now travel back to 1943. You are a pilot for the US army, and in a dog fight you are shot down, and forced to eject. Right as the enemy plane is about to finish you off, a blinding light appears and you find yourself facing creatures from a past long forgotten.
Graphics 10/10:
The enemies have lush detail, and seem very smoothed. The terrain like the trees, look 3D. The clouds have transparency. Weapon shots look very realistic. The CGI are some of the most beautiful I seen in a PS2 game.
Music and Sound 10/10:
A nice collection of tunes. The enemies screams, and growls can be heard, in fact they kind of help to locate them. Leaves rustle when you or enemies walk through them. The voices are crystal clear. The gun shots sound rather authentic too.
Controls 10/10:
The gun hits where you aim and fire it at. Unless you have bad accuracy or you did not calibrate the gun right. The thumb pad controls your forward, backward, and turning. As the A and B buttons control your strafe. Pressing A and B together allow you to use the sniper shot. Pretty hand when you don't want enemies to know that you are near. The C button allows are you to change your shot type. Before you ask, yes you can circle strafe in the game. By the way, you can also use the regular PS2 Dual Shock controller, but it is not as much fun.
Challenge 10/10:
The enemy is quick and cunning in this game. Bosses are fast and often hard. Plus the timer is against you too. You will have to move fast, and shoot even faster if you want to survive in this game. Plus you will have to become very skillful in order to obtain the S rank.
Fun Factor 10/10:
Is the game fun. In a word yes. There are so many different types of weapons to use, and enemies to face. You will be having a fun time with that.
Replay Value 10/10:
Three difficulty levels (easy, normal, and hard) to beat. Plus the hidden extra, not to mention the ranking. You will be playing this game for some time.
Overall 10/10:
A very fun game to play, especially if you have the GunCon2. That will provided a decent challenge for the veterans, but is also playable for the novice. This game is worth the $50.
Sounds like a good game, might buy it myself!
