View Full Version : How to update cracked WC3 v1.02 -> v1.02a

Note first that performing this upgrade doesn't mean you will have a cracked and working version of 1.02a, you will still need to crack the executable whenever a crack is available!!

But since Blizzard won't submit a manual upgrade executable file on their homepage I figured out another way of doing this.

1. Download the 1.02 patch from www.blizzard.com/war3/files
2. Patch your cracked version of Warcraft 3
3. You will now have a "clean" v1.02 war3.exe file
4. Copy war3.exe from your Warcraft III folder to another location
5. Use the 1.02 crack
6. Log on to battle.net
7. An update will be downloaded to your computer and you will be asked to restart your game. Here's where it starts to get hard!
8. Alt+tab out of the game
9. Copy your "clean" war3.exe from the other location, but DON'T answer whether you want to replace the file or not, you will do this later.
10. Close all windows except the "File replacement" dialog-window
11. Alt+tab back to the game.
12. This is the final step, but it must be done VERY fast.
12a. click restart
12b. alt+tab to the file replacement dialog-window and click 'Yes'

NOTE!! step 12a and 12b has to be done within a second or the game will try to update your cracked version of Warcraft 3, this will not work! The file has to be replaced before the patching program has finished loading!!

I hope you get it to work, and I hope there will be a crack out for 1.02a ASAP!!

What good is this if you still cant play, because there's no cd-crack yet???

Sure! You can't play, but as soon as the crack is out you can...

But right now, you can't even UPDATE your game because Blizzard won't release a 1.02a manual update executable!

So this is how you update your game!

they will probably release the patch as a file before or at the same time they release a new cd-crack

i cant get that method to work at all so i guess i will have to wait for the crack patch/exe

By the way, you can do that on & on & on. But you have to make sure to backup the "original" exes... But you still need the crack.

BLIZZARD HAVEN'T RELEASED ANY MANUAL UPDATE OK?!

GET IT?!

Looks like Blizzard is not the only one who can make manual updates.

gimpsRus released a virtual crack for 1.02a with an updater for 1.02 -> 1.02a included.

Props to them!
