View Full Version : Adding protection to CD-R's

I want to add protection to my CD-R's that I burn. I want to prevent the average joe from buring data that I lend to them. Does anyone know how to do this?

The data that I am trying to protect is DVD rips of PS2 games. These games are taken from a DVD disk and compressed down to fit onto a CD-R. A PS2 mod chip is then used to play the CD-R game.

I am using a Neo-key mod chip and a LG CD burner. The problem that I am having is everytime I try to alter the CD image of the file, the PS2 wont pick up the protected CD-R.

Any ideas?

Well, of course it won't! The PS2 format has to be internally self-consistent.

If you don't mind my observation, if Sony's patented copy protection can be got round, then so could anything you might devise and "ordinary Joes" these days will try anything. There's you ripping games and wanting to prevent others from doing the same. That's rich!

I was surprised too when I heard that there was a way to edit cue sheets for PS1 games (on this site, mind you) to add copy protection. Sounds stupid, you install a mod chip to beat the protection and then turn around and add more protection!!

Seems now adays any protection can be beat, it's just a matter of how much work you want to put into it. The ordinary joe might not know how, or spend the time to figure it out.

As for protecting PS2, sounds like experimenting is the best way...I suppose there is no software out yet, much like the different softwares seen on this site.

Regardless of what type of protection anyone tries to use......EVENTUALLY, It Will Be Cracked! If it is made by a human.... A human will break it.....

Well... I tried it before... some games worked with protection and others didn't..

You'll have to burn an Illegel TOC (CUE sheet)...
So PC CD-ROM/Writers Drives can't read it... Of course there's must be ones can read...

Anyways.. try my CUE sheet..

........
Well... create a Dummy file named "Dummy.bin" , any wave file named "1.wav" and any 10MB file named "LOCK.DAT" put together within ur game image directory..

the game image is named "image.bin" for example..
let's do it:-..
All you've to change is TRACK 2,3 & 4 INDEX 01.. like this..

Let's say that ur image.bin file ends at "78:23:46"

So.. TRACK 02 INDEX 01 WILL BE "78:23:38"
TRACK 03 INDEX1 WILL BE "78:23:42"
& TRACK 04 INDEX1 WILL BE "78:23:46"

... THAT'S ALL..

USE BlindWrite to burn this CUE ...

.....
WELL THE CUE FILE IS TOO BIG TO BE ATTACHED..
WHAT'S UR EMAIL?

Sounds good, but I'm curious why do you think some games worked and others didn't? Could be the format of the game data....

What version of blindwrite did you use? I was using the program and could not figure out how to create the cue within the program. I was also woundering what the "dummy.bin" was. How big should this file be?

Also, you are saying there are 4 tracks; the dummy, the wav, the lock.dat, and the actual image. But in your cuesheet, you have 2 audio tracks listed. No make sense to me....

Another example is the fact that some people use ALL CAPS. That is usually not allowed in other forums that I moderate.

I never said I moderated these forums. I have moderated others and still do under a different name.

I could care less if you moderated these or not. I am here to help people.

I could care less if Im banned because I dont need to ask anyone anything. All I do is help, so if Im banned then its only a dent in the help the people will get to this site.

And most by the apparant lack of control that you have, I assume you are much younger than me and probably know a lot less.

Hey guys...... There are ALOT of people that should be banned and there are ALOT of things that should be done on this forum.... Obviously the moderators do not pay attention to what goes on here at the forum (no offense to Zedy or Tyler)....
BUT what we do not need is 2 people flaming each other....
ESPECIALLY 2 people that have helped so many others in the past...
NOBODY on this forum "KNOWS EVERYTHING"........
That is the reason the forum is here.....
TO HELP....... NOT TO FLAME......

Get back to what you 2 guys do best.... Help everyone else.....

So for breaking the rules I should be banned? Well, rules are rules...but if that was the case, why would GameCopyWorld give instructions and examples of what we are (were) discussing?

Is that not some sort of double standard? It's okay for GameCopyWorld to post information but not okay for the users to do the same?

Just a thought....

Well, post whatever you want to, man.. and just IGNORE the replys you don't like...

"Zedy" I don't know if moderators do their job or not, but if I was a moderator I could say "It's not ur bussines"....
