Version 5,6 or 7.. What is the best to own?

I currently have a V1 with Neo Key installed. Well i think V1. Bought it day of launch and it has spch-30001 on it. Please tell me what i have?


Anyway, i think the laser is dying on it and I was gonna buy a new unit from like walmart or target or kmart and return my unit. How do I know what version they are selling? can i get away with it? and what version should i get? 5? 6? 7?

Im not gonna comment on the return issue (except for the reset/eject ribbon cable problem).


But any of those versions would be fine. If you are planing to still use the NEOKEY. It will work on all three versions you mentioned.


Chances are you will get a v5 or v7. The v6 is very rare.

One thing though.... DUMP the neo key and get a Magic 2 mod chip in your new PS2.....(Same as Messiah) :cool:

I dont think the return thing will work. Anyone have any ideas? I bought a v5 today from walmart and they scanned the code on the ps2. it is now on my receipt. so if i put my v1 in the v5 box and try to return it it wont work prolly cause the codes wont match. what can i do:(:(

Try selling it on e-bay or something like that to get something out of it.... A little money for it is better than going to jail over it.....:cool:

Just offload your old PS2 to a used game/system store like FuncoLand... think GameSpot bought them out, so that might be their name now. You'll at least get half your cash back; there's good chance you'll have one of their stores within driving distance.
