Messiah and V5 pal PS2

I have a V5 PAL PS2 and i am planning to get a messiah. I have heard about people frying their laser. If i just use my ps2 to play CD-R's will my laser be fine? If so for how long?

i just modded my ps2 with a messiah...........................
its hard to solder. mayb thats the prob?
i never heard of frying a laser due to modding..:o

Messiah won't fry the laser. V5 has a good laser.
