I know ppl have asked this a lot of times

I plan to mod my PS2:
serial - U1973112
NTSC - U/C
SCPH - 30001R

I looked at some sites and I still can't determine my model, please help.

Also, if you find out my version... Can you tell me the BEST mod for it? I plan to play PSone and PS2 backups, ALSO japanese games too. I'm not too good with soldering.
thanks again

from the looks of it, you probably have a v5 console.

check out this page to make sure : http://consolemods.tripod.com/mods/id6.html

So many models, so many sites with descriptions on how to find out what you have got?

A sticky post would be a good idea on this subject, with a nice list.

3001r
"r" its a v5
it could possibly b v4r but ver much doubt it
the only way gaurantee this is to open up look at the booard
v4 board and v5 board r different look at any wiring diagrams u will know v4 and v5 then

v6 is same v5 most chips excet no solder (1 clip is otherway round)

best chip for u is magic 2 v5/v6
