OK, Got a little bored tonight, and thought I'd update $h!t on my PC, and finally grabbed the latest CloneCD and ran through my usual test batch to see how it fared. Just for kicks, I ran the GameCD settings with Copy-on-the-Fly from my DVD at 1X read with SubChannels on Data and Audio, Fast error skip "Abort", 1Xwrite, Don't Correct--same as usual except for on-the-fly and I ramped the buffers all the way up to max (76MB). To my surprise, the bugger worked!! 4 games ranging from 200MB (Spongebob for PSX) to 624MB (Star Wars Starfighter for PS2) snapped off without a hitch!!!????
I've always copied to HD first, then Burned because On-the-Fly was unreliable for PSX/PS2's, but maybe not so true anymore? I noticed on my Starfighter rip, it was actually running at a 2X Write (374KB/Sec) when it would run 1X (about 180KB/sec) on the previous versions. Maybe some compatability fixes were made with the new version??
Just wondering if this is a fluke, or if others are having success with this. It's a BIG timesaver!!!
