View Full Version : Question on DVD burner
I just picked up a DVD burner (Sony DRU110A/C1 DVD+RW/CD-RW internal EIDE) and will be getting a magic2 chip next week. Does anyone here know if that is a good burner for making PS2 (and XBOX for that matter) DVD backups? Also, whats the best proggie to use to use for PS2 CD & DVD backups?

for the programs, CloneCD or CDRWin for CD and Prassi PrimoDVD for DVD.
check out www.psxcopyworld.co.uk for software and tutorials.

Personally I would use a Pioneer A03 or A04 as DVD-R is the most widely supported medium on PS2 for backups. X-Box doesn't care and in any case there is a complex rip process for taking X-box games of dual layer DVD onto single layer DVD-R/DVD+R.
i wouldn't take the Sony.

I think that drive is based on the DVD+RW method. It seems to me that method may be on it's way out because it isn't supported as well on home DVD players as the DVD-RW method. If so, it may not be compatible with the PS2. Need to make sure it can reliably write to 4.7GB DVD-R Media. There are some out there that will only do DVD+RW. Double check the formats that drive supports. The Pioneer drives (03/04) seem to be the most recommended, and that is what I'm saving up for.
Good Luck!
