As some of you may already know, a PS2 developer named sjeep, who has already developed PSMS (a sega master system emulator for the PS2), has been working really hard over the last few months on his new emulator, namely PGEN. PGEN is a Sega Genesis emulator for the PS2.
Those of you who are into the emulator scene will already know the story, I will tell it anyway.......
This guy sjeep works his bollocks off for ages designing and testing PGEN. He put a lot of time and effort into creating PGEN, alongside answering questions from users of his PSMS emulator. About 4 weeks ago, sjeep sent PGEN to a few trusted people for beta testing, and went away for a well deserved 2 week holiday. When he got back he found that somehow his beta version of PGEN had been leaked and was doing the rounds on IRC. Can you imagine how pissed this guy must feel. Even worse, the person who got hold of the copy has removed everything that identified sjeep as the developer and it's owner. He has since posted his official statement here (http://forums.gamebase.ca/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=PGEN;action=display;num=1026168470). Despite all of this he has decided to carry on and has set this Thursday (18th July 2002) as the public release date.
However, the people over at ps2ownz have now posted a link on their homepage to somewhere that is hosting the leaked beta version.
I know that a few people on these boards look at ps2ownz, I often refer people there for DVD-Rip tutorials, but I wanted to urge people not to download the leaked beta version. Sjeep should be releasing the public version tomorrow, so for the sake of one day you might aswell wait and get the real thing. The public release has some extra features included also.
Please respect the work the sjeep has put in to make this emulator possible.
For more information on PGEN come have a look at http://forums.gamebase.ca/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=PGEN or visit the GameBase (http://gamebase.ca/new/) homepage.
