Jim - that's not what axiom asked
axiom, not sure about cheapest, but more reliable is charlie_ps2 or dust2dust, or if you dont want a chip shipped from UK then try charlie's mate Bill at www.freedomlives.com. I always go for reliability over cheapness.
I have never dealt with the people you mentioned, BUT, Like PsxPaul said..... GO WITH RELIABILITY...... I HAVE dealt with Charlie_PS2 on more than 1 occasion..... He is very honest and straight foward......
I also don't know if I would trust the people you mentioned.... I looked at there site and it says they sell pre-modded PS2... It also says they come with the Messiah OR NEO 2.2..... BUT in the description of these consoles it says they direct boot everything..... The NEO 2.2 can't direct boot everything..... Only the Messiah Or Magic 2 can do that..... Sounds a little shady to me.

Axiom, not sure where you are and what model PS2 you got...but that is only the PAL version of the chip. That $68 is for the chip only, you gotta pay shipping also. As for the cheapest price--don't hold your breath. The price will be dropping for the PAL soon, if it hasn't already. Hong Kong Toys ( www.ps2modchip.com ) has already reduced some of the "Blue" line to $70. The standard PAL Versions are at www.lik-sang.com for $69 (in the PS2/Backup and Import section)
The Magic clones will be gaining market share soon, which may drive the price down again eventually. The newer chips are more or less universal for NTSC/PAL--they have a set of solder points to "jumper-off" the NTSC or PAL usage.
I would steer clear of these guys--they are still green around the edges. Site put up this year, and has broken links--can't even get to their company info and contact pages from the main page.
There is no compromise for quality and reliability--stick to the ones who have made a good name for themselves.
Good Luck!
