copy ps2 dvd to dvd

hi i have a ezquest dvd which is a pioneer drive
i have nero 5.5
mod cube
gameshark ps2 disk 2

i follow the instruction but when i get to the start game it freezes
do i have to patch any of the game
is there a way boot up with out gameshark?
