Hi please help me if you know about this.
My ps2 is pal - 3004R with a NEO 2.2 installed and i use AR2 V2.
My cd-rs play fine but i deal a problem with the dvd-r 's
I start AR2 pressing reset button down , I eject ar2 and insert Dead or Alive 2 Platinum while i have chosen dave mirra max and when i insert the original dvd DOA2 the cd is beeing read(i can hear it) but a clicking noise appears as if it cannot read the table of contents. if i leave the reset button the tray opens but a mechanic noise is heard twice like it still trys to read the cd. then i insert the dvd-r backup press start and nothing happens. Note that i have managed to work it properly some times(without any noises) but most of the times this happens and the cd doesnt load.
Ps . I changed the capacitor just in case that was it , but still the same prob.

thanx for your time
I believe only Charlie or Arakon could help me about this but if anyone else could i would appreciate it.:(

If you have had VD-R working before and they have stopped working now then here are the likely causes (any or all):

1 Your DVD laser diode has been weakened/defeated by the Neo2.2 - a well known problem

2 Your laser lens is dirty and should be cleaned with a C lens cleaning disk

3 Your DVD-Rs need washing in warm soapy water

That's just three possibilities. Two and three can be dealt with quickly leaving one a certainty if the other two fail.

Thanx Charlie for your information.
The dvd-r 's still works and just worked 10 minutes ago and the game is playing fine. But lets say that 7 out of 10 atempts to load the dvd-r fails. I insert the orginal DVD game wait for about 10 secs and at this point the problem appears(the dvd probably is not read correctly) and a clicking noise is heard. If i don't hear this clicking noise i know that when i swap the game will boot just fine. Anyway i ll do what ever you told me and i ll see what else can be done. If you think of anything else please notify me.
If the laser weekens out then shouldnt also the original dvds have problems or just the backups would not boot cause the original dvd are OK.

See my post "Understanding DVD/DVD-R issues". This explains the difference in behaviour of DVD and DVD-R.
