Hi,
I was wondering, if I bought a pal ps2, is there a way to play imported games (either us or jap) on it? I know there's modchips of course, but is there another way? I don't want to play ffx (or any other hampered palrelease) with borders/50hz, so will it run on 60hz and fullscreen if i bought a us version? (I reckon it does, but I wish to know for sure).
cheers

With a PAL PS2, to play NTSC games needa a modchip. Messiah/Magic 2 are best.

Display quality is TV dependent. The PS2 puts NTSC out the back for those games at 60Hz and PAL out the back for PAL games at 50Hz.

if your TV can resolve both of those (as most Euro-TVs now can), then you are set. if not, you will get a rolling picture and poor colour if yours is a US TV playing a PAL game, or poor colour if a Euro-TV playing an NTSC game.
