Why is it that only Ea games will not work on my Ps2, games such as MOH, & agent under Fire, Star Wars JediFighter. Can anyone advise what may be problem and if so what do I need to do or where to get backups that will work?/

Sorry for the late reply.
I boot all my EA games exactly like any other compact disc game. I use a GS2 v2x. I let it completely load, select start game, without codes, preform the r-mod swap and as the tray closes i press x and the backups load.
Craig, the games you mentioned are dvd games so i am assuming they are ripped to cdr, if that is the case then the TOC issue is the problem. Any rip over 640mb will not load with a no solder mod no matter what boot disc you use

i read that its the ar not the chip that wont run over 630 mbs
if this is the case what items can be edited to make the game smaller and stll run

Most modchip developers dont recognise dvd rips as legitimate backups. It will not load a backup with a higher TOC than the boot disc. Ar2 or GS2 will load all PSX, PS2 games as all will fit onto a 650mb cdr. For dvd-r games a original Hi TOC dvd game is used along with the AR2,GS2.to load the backup. As long as you stick to this you will have no problem with the no solder mod.
As far as ripping the game mikkiboy i have no idea, I ripped a few backups in the past but got frustrated and bought a dv-r AO3. If you are going to use this mod i would suggest you do the same.

Hi Nightstalker how about giving us dummies some idea/instructions how to do this and what game do you recommend that we use, that has a high TOC.
Look forward to your reply so as I can star playing all these games I have that will not load normally:D

Load GS2, Once it completely loads press eject and swap with a original dvd game.(i use DMC demo). Wait about 30 sec and select gameshark codes, choose any game and turn on or off any code. Then press start, select with codes and press x to load game, you will see a black screen that says updating codes please wait. Immediately do the r-mod swap by pressing and holding eject until the tray ejects, swap the original dvd game with the dvd-r backup, the tray will close after 5 sec and the backup will load.

I am assuming you have a quality dvd-r backup.(not a dvdrip). If this doesnt solve the problem i would suggest you borrow a dvd-r backup(if possible) from a friend thats proven to work. The above boot method loads dvd-r backups EVERY time for me. Also i use GS2 not AR2 below is a working AR2 method posted by a friend.

To all of you that trying the dave mirra trick with the new AR2 V2.1 (new v) and it Doesn’t work .
I will explain what I done:
1. create a new entry in the code list and call this game code "DVD-R"
2. create an empty code entry in this "DVD-R" game code and call this entry "dummy-code"
3. Boot the ps2 with the AR2, then swap (just regular eject) the AR2 disc with a DVD original larger then the DVDR you trying to boot and wait 20 sec.
4. chose AR codes from the main menu and turn on or off this "dummy-code" before you start the game .
5. chose start game-with codes and press X then it says updating code list and in this exact time press the eject for 2 sec for open the tray with the r-mod chip and swap the original DVD with the DVD-r.
Good luck

I Just got my hands on a new GS2 v2.11. It boots dvdr perfectly with the above method.

Craig18, the games you are having problems with are all dvd games that have been ripped down to fit onto a 700mb cdr. The games will not load if they are over 640mb so if you expect them to work you will have to rip them down again to the required specs. (640mb).

Hi Nightstalker the next question being how to rip them down to required spec (640 mb). Any advise would be most welcome and instructions on what to do:confused:
