Does anyone know how to make a 1:1 copy of warcraft 3?.
it uses secuRom v2 as protection. Many have suggested I use CloneCD but with no results. I have a DAO-RAW capable writer and reader. I use CloneCD 4, (latest version), with all the the settings:
Data Read Settings Tab:
Set Read Speed Data to 1x (176 kByte/s)
Select Read SubChannel Data from Data Tracks (default)
Select Regenerate Data Sectors (default)
Audio Read Settings Tab:
Set Read Speed Audio to 1x (176 kByte/s)
Set Audio Extraction Quality to Medium (Fast) (default)
Select Read SubChannel Data from Audio Tracks (default)
UnSelect Only read the first Session (default)
Error Handling Tab:
Set Fast Error Skip to Automatic (default)
Set Sector Skip to 100 (default)
UnSelect Abort on Read Error (default)
Select Don't report read errors (default)
Select Intelligent Bad Sector Scanner (default)

This normally works for other games, except secuRom v2. Does anyone know how to bypass SecuRom v2 ?
And for some reason CloneCD keeps on reading at 4 speed. Even though I have adjusted it to read at 1x. Any clues?

What reader and writer do you have?
Try using the Game Profile also and maybe Clony's profile.
Also, maybe the game has an ATIP check so enable Hide CD-R Media

I have a:
LITEON LTR-24102B
And I have checked the CloneCD's website my burner is fully compatible.

As I mentioned I have used the settings for cloneCD which would normally let be copy anything. (except securom v2, I can never copy a game with this protection)
Is there a way to bypass this ?

I have the same problem, I follow all the instruction on how to backup 1:1 using CloneCD4, but the backup will not run, had the same error message, and ask me to insert WC3 cd. So anyone who actually made a 1:1 backup of WC3, please let us know how you did it. Thanks.

Ok Guys i hate to say this but i have some CHEAP Sony drive that came with some micron pc. i have a liteon 241040b an no matter what i tried it wouldnt work i also have a acer 8432 and it wouldnt work. SO after 11 cds lost on NWN and now WC3 i put WC in my cheap Sony drive and clicked on securomnew in clony saved it to the profiles in cloneCD and 20 mins later im chilling with a backup of WC3 im not mad i got it to copy im just mad that my liteon wouldnt do it. im beginning to think it may be more to it than JUST clone not working it may be drive BATCH related. becuase some liteon oners can copy it and some cant what we need to start asking from both owners are what bios are you using what program did you use if clone what verion what were the settings. so forth and so on. and not just get the standard oo it worked for me and im so coll responce. i know at least 75-85% of the people here got some kind of help from this forum so give back and lets get this problem taken care of and spit in the face on sony hahahaha.

I had the same problems...
(see threat "Warcraft 3" in the "CD Copy Protections..." Forum)

Finally, old equipment did it!
It is really uncool.

My old Plextor 8432 did it
(with CloneCD 3 and SubChannel NOT to be repaired).

Maybe interessting for some of you:
The Plex with CloneCD3 reported exactly two errors (the LiteOn 2410B with CloneCD4 did not report any errors)!
Read Errors in Sectors:
218 368
281 328

Someone who finds this useful?

Repeat the read in the Plextor again to see if you again get the errors - I am guessing that these are merely scratches/dirt that the Lite-on's error correction was able to handle better because Securom doesn't normally have read errors.

Hello everyone

I had to go down to storage and dig out my old writer (Yamaha), but the result is the same as my new writer (LG). When I create the image using both CloneCD 3 and 4, there are no read errors from both writers, so anything other method are welcome. Thanks.

Pegasus try using Blindwrite to make your copy. I had tried everything from cloneCD to cdmate and none of them worked when trying to make my 1:1 copy of Wc3. Blindwrite did it flawlessly and on the first try at full write and read speeds. The default settings even worked too!

My burner is LiteOn 32x2x and i've used CloneCD 4.0.1.9 with only these settings:

Reading
Speed: 4x
read subchannel data from audio tracks: yes
read subchannel data from data tracks: yes

Writing
Speed: 4x
Don't repair subchannel-data: yes

It has take only a few minutes and it works fine.
There was'nt any read errors on the disc.

(I've the german version)

Hello everyone,

I still can't get it work, dont' know why, I tried blindread/write, and there is a message about a bad header on the image I've created (during the scan image process) I tried it again and it's the same. A good thing is that the backup created by blindwrite don't cause any error, but only ask me to insert the game cd, while the clonecd backup causes an error in windows then ask me to insert the game cd.

I'll try both backup on my other computer that don't have a cdrw and see if it work. Thanks.

Just some follow up, the backup I've created runs fine on my other system (should have thought about that before I waste so many cds ) the problem turnout to be that WC3 have cdr protection, it will not allow backup to run in a cdr/cdrw, so just play it in normal cdrom and it should work. Thanks everyone.

I've don't know if this is will be of any help to anyone, but I noticed when trying to copy wc3, it won't let me read the CD at 1x, it jsut jump's to 4x. (this is using Clone CD 4)
And the write speeds shouldn't matter does it?....(correct me if I'm wrong)
I mean as long as you can get a good image to burn from, the result of what speed you burn at should affect the outcome. should it?

You could enable Hide CD-R Media in the Clone CD Tray if you want to play from a burner.

How do you enable this hide cd-r method? are you using clonecd4? I created my backup using clonecd3. Thanks.

If the Clone CD Tray isn't already running in the bottom right hand side of your screen, then start it up from your Start menu. Then right click on it and make sure the tick is beside Hide CD-R Media.

If it is grayed out it is because your regional settings are set to USA or Japan. You could change the regional settings or use this tool. (http://www.geocities.com/pcp-freak/4cdfreaks/unlocker.html)
