View Full Version : Really Confused - US Messiah?
Hi, thank you Charlie_PS2 for all the help you gave me weeks ago about the possible best investment on PS2 for running backups.
I just bought the Pioneer A04 unit, waiting delivery.
Already updated the Nero version to 5.5.8.2.
Looking for the Messiah unit suggested.
The problem is that I simply can't find US Messiah version available, all offers are "not yet released" or "email us to make you know when available", or something like that.
It seems that up to now there is no "NO SWAP" solution for US consoles?
I got confused, some lights please?
Just another question; Is the following machine configuration enough to produce DVD backups?: Pioneer A04, Nero 5.8.8.2, AMD K6-500MHz, Win98Se, 256MB Ram, 12GB Free HardDisk space...
Thank you.
Peter Lakner.

Your system looks fine for PS2 DVD backups. US Messiah will bout mid Julyish - so you dont need to wait too much longer. Also - you may be ablr to install yourself as the new Messiah clips should be out by then too.

Yes! It will work with all versions of US PS2's... The only problem you may have with older version PS2's is the ability to play DVD-R backups... Will just depend on how strong your laser is.....
Dependiability really is upon which console he has.Ver.1-3 is not that great to run dvd-r's. If he has Ver.4 and up it's fine.
hey Joking69,
Who told you the chip was due mid July?
Is this a definite?
I heard first mid may them mid june but some marketing probs causing yet more delays.
Because of the 39001 model's and I heard that due to the Messiah Clip(Reduces to 2 Huge wires instead of 23).

To elaborate on that - The release was postponed as a result of the "upcoming" (now released) SCPH-39001 PS2.
Same Damn thing!! I'm sure people get the idea..

I am sorry if this question is out line, if it is just please delete it. Can someone tell me how much does it generally cost to get a messiah in the U.S.? Thanks.
If you get one with NTSC Fix one it for the Current Messiah will run around $90.00..Without it will cost $70.00,that's the cheapest I seen..
:D :D :D :D :D
Got the A04 working already.
Bought some DVD-R media, some "general" and some "pro - 2x recording speed", lets see what happens.
Made some backups of PS2 games, but can't test, since my console has no mod chip yet.
I am thinking to install a simple 12C508 with NEO2.2 code I downloaded from the net and see what happens.
The US Messiah version still in the dark, at least for now, no one could really confirm date of release, so probably the NE2.2 would be a temporarily good solution.
Cheers and thank you.

PS: I have a question, can be totally dumb. Some of the PS2 DVDs I copied using Nero 5.8.8.2 are less than 700MB of data. The raw file read from DVD stored at the PC harddisk at least show less than that. I didn't try but I wonder if those small copies could be burn in CD-Rs instead of DVD-Rs, since they fit. I imagine that is not possible, since the raw data from a DVD should be different from the same raw data from a CD, right? or wrong? I initially thought that they use DVDs because the program would not fit into a CD, but those few would, so... what's the catch? reading speed?
