I upgraded my version of nero, 5.0.2.7, which was original, to the latest 5.5.8.2, the software said I was entitled to the upgrade, as opposed to the demo.

When I open it up, there is no dvd option just cd or new cd??

checked ver and is definitely 5.5.8.2

anyone got any ideas?

Uninstall the version you have at the moment, and then reinstall the version you had before (only if the previous version allows you to compile a DVD)

The other thing is, is if you dont have a DVD drive detected on your system Nero wont make the function available DEPENDING ON THE VERSION.

Oooops. Sorry - turn the wizard off. The wizard does not allow you to make a DVD. If you select "New" then go to the left side of the menu that asks you what type of disk you would like to create. Choose DVD.

The other option is if you are copying a DVD, just choose copy disk. It will Automaticly detect the media that is being written on, and the media that is being read from.

Did your original version have the DVD option?? Was your original a DEMO or the full version?

my original was the full version, not demo, but it never had dvd on it, but I thought the upgrade would upgrade to dvd, as it wasnt generally a used media form when my version was made originally.

So does your original need to be dvd for the upgrade to work? surely not? whats point in calling it an upgrade?

Its not installed yet, I'm awaiting its arrival, pioneer a04, this could be the problem.

Although at present I have a ricoh mp9120a in there, its not a dvd burner, but does read them, wouldnt it detect that ?

Well, that is not the case. Nero will provide that functionality - but it doesn't provide it on the wizard. As I said before, Nero detects the media you have in the drive.
