BOTF under WIN XP! Who can help me????

I like the Game :
Star Trek Birth of the Federation!

I have it Original Version! I didnt play it for a long time but now that i wanted it doesnt work under WIN XP! Is there something i can do so that it works? i would really love playing it again!

I know this is an old subject, but here goes anyway.

I emailed mircoprose's tech support and they said that the game works on xp as long as you don't patch it. I tried and it worked, but now i can't player multiplayer over the internet.

I was wondering if you or someone else was able to get around this issue?
