Just got a new PS2 and Im interested in getting a modchip.Would like to get a plugin chip if possible. I have experience in soldereing modchips in original PS. Prefer not to solder this one. The problem Im having is finding the right chip, you see Im having trouble finding my model #. The model of my PS2 is SCPH-39001/97004 can anyone guide me the correct site with info on this.

Thanks

Is it PAL or NTSC?

Looks to me like you have a v6 board - but dont quote me on it. Sony has released a newer board too... an anti Modchip board, heres hoping you didn't buy one of them!

Did you buy it Brand New or Second hand?

Good luck.

Sorry, its a NTSC. I traded in some stuff at Funco (remember them) and $20 for a new PS2. I also found later on in the forum that www.freedomlives.com/ says its being tested with the messiah on this particular board.

As on the website you posted then... get the new messiah. It is compatible with your board. I realise that it costs a lot - but it is a small price to pay for the infinite possibilites the Messiah offers. I have one - and I used to have a cheaper chip too. D I regret getting a messiah? Hell no! Am I so rich that the cost of the messiah was never realy a problem? No way - if I were rich I would never bother with playing backups in the first place. I figure that the messiah is worth 4 original games, within a week, I will have 6 backups. Do the maths.

Just do it if you feel like doing a bit of soldering. It is all worthwhile in the end. Plus if you do it yourself - you are going to feel that much better about it.

GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!

we have spoke about the cost of the messiah chip a few time on this forum and concluded that the messiah is in fact not that expensive.

remember that with other chips you will need to
1) pay for the chip itself (+ possible installation)
2) buy ar2 or gs
3) buy devil may cry for booting dvd-rs.

So you're looking at around £60-70 straight away plus you will have to swap discs to play plus you will have a crappy chip in your machine.

If your machine is compatible with the messiah then you should think about getting hold of one, if not then wait for the US messiah to come out.
