I just received my mod kit for my ps2. included ar2 v2.01 and I thought it was no solder modchip. Its actually neo2.2 with a capacitor.

I've read all about laser damage from this chip, mine is v5 laser, is it ok, or will it still stuff my laser??

Wondering wether to fit or to try get nosolder instead?

Any opinions greatly appreciated, the more the better.

I know messiah is best but bit pricey n hard to get.

No NEVER install a neo 2.2 in your v5

you don't want a messiah right?

My advice then is to get a Origa chip it will play but you have to swap with ARv2 but at least it won't damage your laser

Forget about the No-solder mod too it will damage your laser eventually too

NYyankee's advice is rock solid.

Incidentally you can get a Messiah from me but I on't discuss price over the forum. So please e-mail me through my profile for a quote. Takes 6 days to get to you and I've got quite a few Oz customers.

The Origachip is also a first rate chip that does absolutely everything with PS1/PS2 games. It requires a single swap to handle DVD-Rs. But it's the next best chip after Messiah. The easiest swap is with DVD Region X, by the way.

thanks for advice charlie,

guy i got this kit from is taking it back n supplying messiah for me.

costing me extra $100, his messiah $200aud. (£72, not bad i thought)

Install is a big one but I'm an electronic technician and proficient with a fine point.

will let you know how i go

Yeah - £72 is a fair price. I suggest 34 swg wire and a 0.10 mm tip. Avoid the vias. If it's a v5 PS2, the CD/DVD Contoller alternates (on pads the other side of the motherboard) are easy points. For the BIOS, use a razor blade to enable you to segregate pins when working.

Good choice.
