Hi all,

i have found a dvd-r disk brand called Laser in Australia, cheapest in Aust by far, at about $8AU.

just wondering if anyone has had experience with this media and if it is suitable for Ps2?

Thx

Hi All,

Just got some Laser Branded DVD-R to backup my blood omen 2 game.

There is skipping on the into movies and movies during the game.

Burnt on Pioneer A04 @ 1X with PrimoDVD.

Though hmmmmm! then tried it with Apple DVD-R media and there is no skipping at all.

I did however backup Spiderman on the Laser DVD-R and all seems fine there. The only thing i notice is the laser makes more noise with dvd-r media compared to an original disk.

slats,

I have had 100% skip free success on Laser with the following games:

Onimusha Warlords
SSX Tricky
Klonoa 2
ArmyMen Sarges Heros
Red faction

i did notice that the apple brand media is $45.00 AUD (5-pack) on the apple website, so that makes em cheaper than Laser at the moment.

when u flip the 2 disks over the dye used seems to be ideniticle, I dont think theres much difference if any between em.

I dont know what else to suggest, I rips using Dvd-extractor and burn at 1X with Roxio Toast on mac.

I have had complete success so far

my copy of blood omen 2 I bought off the net and that has slight skips during gameplay when the ps2 loads into a new area but only very very subtle ones.
FMV is fine

e-mail me if u want the URL for the site I got it from they have heaps of new release dvd-backups and ship with full covers ect.

Regards,
Elkay

hey Elkay,

i emailed u :)

i looked at the 2 dvd-r disk, the bootm of them.

Apple is more of a dark purple/blue color, where as laser is not as dark and has a orange tinge to it?

thanks for ur reply.

hey elkay agian :)

got a question.

I tried to backup fifa 2002 on apple dvd-r, is loadable, but loads very slow and laser is noticable louder than usual.

tried it on laser dvd-r, would bring up the ps2 logo and then try and read the disk for 30 secs, laser makes all sorts of weird noises. stays on black screen will not load.

tried to burn it on a pioneer dvd-rw and it works normal! loads normal and laser sounds normal. I have a v5 ps2, i thought they had the best lasers??

the only thing i can think of is that i have made about 10 backup of my games and i only had problems with 2 of them, blood omen 2 and fifa 2002. and the thing is they r all above 4gb in size.

any ideas regarding my situation? i use pioneer ao4 with firmware 1.20.
