So many numbers and letters!

I am buying a LiteON burner and need some info.

I am very clear on how all the SD 2 protections are only burned by certain burners, and i know the LiteON burns most of them. But the problem is which one burns all of them? I also See LiteOn32XXXXXX. What does it all mean and which one do i want?

Sorry about the ranting, but its late and i cant type very well.

Last question. I promise.
What is firmware? Which version do i want? I have heard that only some versions of it work and others dont.

Can someone please point me in the right direction.

well i got my Lite-on 32x12x40 which means 32x write 12 re-write and 40 read. the serial you are looking for or model number is in my sig. i also have a sony CRX 140E!

my liteon was made in March 2002 and has the firmware, i forgot which one but it burns everthing. all the firmwares do!
you could get eeither the 40x write model or the 32x write which i have

or, the more kinky idea, you could get the 32, and flash it to a 40 ! heheee

Yea - you grad some modified firmware, flash it, then go for it.

But it's not recommended - can be dangerous
