okay guys here is the deal. I got the no solder pnp mod from lik sang.com. it says it can play cdr and dvdr but then i heard that the no solder cannot play dvdr over 650. so does that mean any dvd i would play i would have to rip to under 650? is it worth while for me to get a dvd burner? like say I get a dvd burner can I simply burn (backup) a dvd game i have liek resident evil code veronica to a dvdr and it will work? would i need to do that load game shark switch to an orginal large dvd then go to without codes and eject and put in the dvdr backup? i am new to all this please explian guys. because i dont see what good playing dvdr is if it cant play over 650 hehe if thats the case how is it any better than cdr?
It's not that hard to understand....dvd games backed up to dvd-r play fine as well as compact disc games to cd-r. The problem is with dvd games ripped to cd-r. A cd-r backup requires a single swap to load. It uses the GS2's TOC which is 640mb. When booting a dvd-r you are required to do a additional swap using a original hi TOC dvd game for the PS2 to load from. When you rip a dvd game down to fit on a cd-r it must be under the 640mb limit imposed by the GS2 to work.
Fact is this, All PSX and PS2 games(compact disc) will fit onto a 650mb cd-r. As long as you have a dvd-r burner to make direct backups of the dvd games along with a hi TOC dvd original to boot them (DMC is the largest) all backups should work using this mod.
