Hi! I have a not-perfect copy of Diablo 2, but cannot make it run. It installs onto my system without any trouble (thru 'setup disc'), but when I insert the 'play disc', I get a message saying 'Make sure play disc is inserted, then try again'!

I do not know what type of lock Diablo 2 has. Is there anything I can download (what and from where) that'll make these very same discs run? Remember, the problem seems to lie only with the 'play disc'.

Please help me, I'll be very grateful!! I'm a novice in all this.

Thanks!!

I have tried looking for the answer in all common sites. But everywhere they talk about burning CDs. Problem is that I already have made imperfect copies .... and no one is telling how to make these work!

you have not looked for the answer very hard at all. here, we have several posts about scanning for protections. and we have a search button. this is the common site, along with gamecopyworld, and both have the answer.

Diablo II is protected with Securom "new".
Only the play disc is protected; install & movie disc are not protected at all.
Since your "inperfect" copy doesn't work, probably subchannel data is not copied, which is required by Securom to check the cd is the original one.

There is a tool around called "unSecurom", but it requires the original cd or working copy to make an unprotected executable.

Just look for a crack :-)

I already had checked in gamecopyworld! It was one of the sites that talked about burning new cds, not about making existing ones work.

Well I dont know how bad your CD's are but you could try this.

Dump all the contents of every CD into 1 folder. Then install the game from that folder instead of from the CD and it should work. If it cant find something, then that means your CD's are missing some information and that you wont be able the play the game period.

well, then, take your original media out, and make new copies. there isnt any way to do anything to a 'bad copy' to make it work.

Whether or not you have a perfect copy doesnt matter if you use a NoCD crack. Just replace that .exe and youre ready to go.

it sounded like he didnt have it installed, though, and you cant install from a bad copy ;)

Oh well, in that case: Make a new backup!

never expect everything to go well from the first time you do something!
