Having problems to make working copies with clone cd to my Ps One. All settings in Clone CD are correct and it isn't a anti-mod protection game. Tried it in a "old" PS and it worked without any problem. Why not on my PS One?

Have a Lite-On 24102B so no problem with the compability.

If I use CDRwin and use the bootedit (if the game is NTCS, i have a pal system) and applying the PS One patch then it works fine.
Hoped that I didn't have to do all patching when using Clone CD.

Any ideas?

Hi m8
You never said if you were trying to back up a back up or was backing up an original?
If the game you have cloned works on an old psx there could be one or 2 possible reasons it doesn't play
1. the re-writer you are using(i have the same) will on burn a disc at a minimum of 8x so the laser in the psx1 may (as they tend to do now) be low powered and unable to read a disc writ at this speed.
2. I have a m8 who when he backs up a disc has to put a psx1 patch to the game(with cdrwin)to make it play. But i have never had to do this with mine.
3. I don't know whether you ps1 is brand new or a year or so old,Try turning the m/c upside down whilst playing the game (ends to be a sign that the laser is getting weak)

The only option to find out if the first one is the problem is to get a m8 to burn you a back up (obviously with a different model writer) but i only burn at a max speed of 4x.
Try and let me know if this helps

I'll try that.

If I use CDRwin and PS One patch then I can burn in 24x if I want with few problems in some games. If I burn in 8-12x then every copy works.
If It is a foreign copy then I use Bootedit first then applying PS One patch and it works just fine.

The reson I want to use Clone CD is that I hoped to get rid of all patching.

My PS One is about 1 year old.

Hi again m8
Like i said earlier i have'nt had any problems with burning games for the ps1 in the past when i was using my old re-writer a ricoh but can't say i've tried since i've had the lite-on in.
But like i said this rewriter will only burn at a minimum of 8x even when you set your clone parameters to say 2x,so your ps1 (if they have started under powering the lasers like they have done with sony cd players(music that is)) then the actual copy may be too weak for the laser to read.
Like i said try a m8's and get them to write at a max of 4x and try that.
Hope this helps

try these clonecd settings :

create a CD-Image using CloneCD with these settings:

Set Read Speed to 8x
Select Read SubChannel Data from Data Tracks
Select Read SubChannel Data from Audio Tracks
Select Abort On Read Error
UnSelect Fast Error Skip
UnSelect Don't report bad sectors
UnSelect Intelligent Bad Sector Scanner

To burn image to cd:

Set Write Speed 2x
Select RAW DAO
Select Don't Repair SubChannel Data
UnSelect Simulate Writing (if available)
Select Burn Proof/Just Link (if available)
unSelect Perform Laser Power Calibration
unSelect Wait until Buffers are full
Select Always close last Session

Happy playing!

It seems not to be the laser but if it is anyway, is there anything to do to power up the laser?
I know that my burner cant burn any slower than 8x but why can I use 8x in cdrwin and make a fine copy but not in clone?
If I use cdrwin the max speed I can use is 12x and get a working copy every time.

well, I think I am stuck with patching my copies.

I will try clone a game with another burner when I have a chance and use max 4X. 1-2x if I can.

No fools!!! it wont work because pal psones only accept it if the cd says Sony Computer Entertainment Europe on the second psx logo!!! you guys are using clone and the cd still says Sony Computer Entertainment America or whatever. use cdrwin and boot edit and select Europe with boot edit!!!!

Good luck

Doesn't matter if I have a game from UK or US.
I use cdrwin and Bootedit + PS One patch to get my games to boot.
PS One patch because after Bootedit the game is unbootable.

Fuck that mate. if your game is from any other country apart from europe than the game will not boot on a PAL psone without a boot disc or changing the second psx logo to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

so patch the fucken game if its protected then use boot edit to change it to Europe so it will boot. plain and simple

I know that, what I ment was that it doesn't matter if it is a pal or ntsc game if I use clonecd. None of them will work for me.
I am doing what you are saying already to get my copies to work.
Thanks to the information about the second logo, that I didn't know.

I think I know what I need to know now!

Thanks to all help from all of you!
