nero burning

can anyone help.i have just bought nero 5.5 and i am trying to burn movies on to vcd.If i have a small file to burn, it will work ok but soon as u try to burn a large file my pc slows down and comes up not responding.but after about 2 hours it would have burnt on to the cdr.is there anyway of making it go faster?

Is the vcd your trying to burn a AVI or MPEG, if it's a MPEG it should burn in 5 minutes or so...if it's a AVI ,then Nero converts it before burning it, so if the AVI movie is 55 minutes long, then it's going to take 55min to convert and then the 5 min to burn.
