dvd-r boot

can someone help me? i cant get my dvd-r to boot. i have ps2 3001v4 and internal mod with gs2. the one with the bubbles on the "loading " screen. pioneer ao3 and prassi W/ verbatim dvd-r. the gs2 is the one you have to press o and r1 to boot ea cd-r's

If PrimoDVD reports a successful copy from a known working source, then the DVD-R is ok unless it's the crappiest media.

So assuming the chip you are using is OK (like it worked before) then suspect your laser. First step is to clean it with a CD Lens Cleaner (a flail disk).

If no good, do it again.

If no good, recalibrate the DVD laser setting (www.infofree.org - you do this at your own risk).

If no good, replace the laser.

If your chip is a NEO2.2 ensure that Pin 2 is strapped to a capcitor to prevent its 5 v frying the 3.3 v laser circuit.

do you think i could need a newer modchip?? i dont know which one i have but its from modchip .com about a year ago

I think you need a GS2 v1.9 or higher to boot dvd-r

I tried cleaning the laser with a cd cleaner with the little bristles on the cd an it didnt work. i also bought newer version of game shark2 and nothing.anymore ideas?? maybe my boot process is wrong. does anyone know the exact boot process?sorry to be a pain but hey, you gotta do what you gotta to for ps2!before i attempt messsing with the laser, i want to know if my equipment is right.

if u can afford it get a messiah if not then you will need v1.7, v1.9 or v2 or higher to boot dvdr no other datel product will work for dvdr boot

What version GS2 are you using??? If you updated to v2x then try this.
load GS2 and power down the console.
Power up console by pressing and holding reset, do not release, Allow GS2 to fully load.
When completely loaded press eject and swap with original dvd game, do not release the reset button.

wait about 15 sec then select gameshark codes and turn on or off any gamecode,then press start, select with codes. and press x to load game. a black screen will appear saying, updating codes please wait, at this time release the reset button, the tray will eject, swap original with dvd-r backup, you have about 5 sec, tray will close and backup should work....Hope this helps.

does any version of action replay boot Dvd Games? Ive heard some places it matters and in other it dont. I'm not sure which playsation 2 i have but i think its a V3. I cant seem to find a version 1.7 anywhere of action replay only the newer 1s...if u need that version...does any1 know where they stock the old 1s aprt from in a auction or summat...thanx

oh yehr and its got a neo 2.2 thanx
