hi, i'm currently in the process of buying a PS2, and i've been told that it plays dvd movies really badly, and wont even play some movies...

i've also been told that there is some symbol on the dvd cases which tells you whether the dvd will play in your PS2...

i have not been able to find anything about this on the net, other than a few articles telling me that its a really good dvd player...

can someone please tell me the truth about it...

You can buy a DVD player upgrade which saves onto the memory card. It fixes a lot of the problems.

the upgrade for the memory card is not needed if you get a v5 or a v6 PS2 as the dvd driver is the latest and the supported films will be much greater than if you get a v4 or a v5.

I have a V5 and it has loss of sync problems, as did my original V3 untill I upgraded the DVD player software.

may-be the drivers cure that problem but the driver version of the update and the ones on the v5 ps2 are tha same.

that is rather wierd though.

may-be the update is a later version than the one included on the v5 or the coding is slightly different.

The DVD upgrade came out before the V5 PS2 though.
