I've just picked up a No-Solder Stealth 4 chip for my PS2 and was wondering if it can be used to play Imports? I'm thinking of getting Final Frame from the US but was wondering if this chip bypasses the region coding equivalent that there are on PS2 games? Help appreciated.

no.
none of those cheap crap chips can get around region protection.
only the origa and the messiah will play import originals.

Cheap crap? For twenty quid with no soldering, it's pretty good. I've already got a working backup copy of Smackdown (I don't much mind losing the video sequences that play on the big screens since I've seen them so many times) and with a bit of luck I should be able to get a rip of GTA3 working. I did think that perhaps since the chip lets you effectively 'borrow' the protection from another disc as my understanding goes, it'd let you borrow the region coding too. Ah well, guess I'll have to wait for Fatal Frame to hit UK shores.
