I dont have a big hard drive, so is there a program that can rip and compress at the same time?? I have a DVD-ROM and a Burner, is there a prog that will do a direct copy to a blank cd. I want it to be in a format that i can view it on my computer(AVI, DivX, MPEG, ect.) Is there any program that can do what i want??

first of all if don't need a big hd you will need it later so go and buy a new 1...i don't think there is such a programm for make on fly copy and conversion..i think we should thank the guys who even "invevted" the way of "changing" dvds to cds...

Thanks, and does this rip straigt into avi or mpeg? or can it also change a vob file into a mpeg or avi?

this is a cut and paste from the screen

DUP-DVD is a single program designed to create a VCD or SVCD backup from a DVD movie with just one click! So it is not necessary anymore to use 3 or 4 programs just to make a backup of your DVD!
These main backup options are available:

DVD to VCD/SVCD
DVD to Image-File
Image-File to VCD/SVCD
VOB-Files to VCD/SVCD
MPEG to VCD/SVCD
Support Options:

Aspect Ratios: Letter Box, Pan Scan or Full Screen
Selectable Sub-Titles - when more than 1 is available
Selectable Audio Track - when more than 1 is available
A backup of Macro Plus (Part 1 & 2), which is 39 minutes long, took about 2 hours to create (VCD, Medium Quality). So be very patient making a backup of a full 1.5 hour DVD!

DUP-DVD requires an ASPI driver to be installed, if none is available if will return an "ASPI error ..." error message. Then just install one of these ASPI drivers for Win9x, Win2K or WinXP.

mmmm....I just started messing about with DVD ripping (finally got round to it). I'll e-mail you themis_t about the cd. Would be very grateful :D
