I have a v5 ps2, bought the non-solder mod chip from lik-sang and, as far as I can tell, it's installed right (it's pretty simple) but the problem is...none of the ps2 backups will play. I've tried 4 different games and the closest i came was nfl gameday 2002 which froze when the 989sports screen came up. This is getting a little frustrating. Can anyone help with this !? plz...

Some of the games mentioned are dvd games. Are you trying to boot dvd games ripped to cdr or dvd-r backups??

ok, i now know that the toc needs to be less than 640 mb on cd-r
on the latest one tekken4 the size was 623 and it wont get past the gs2 screen that says 'insert disc'

i am using memorex and imation cdr's ... yes i have a dvd-r drive but i was hoping to use the less expensive backup method, if dvdr is the only way (that would suck) i guess thats what i gotta do, but, in that case...can i burn my cdr iso's on a dvdr ? what program? and how do i do it ?

ok, now i have another stupid question, when i bought the gameshark it had 2 cd's in it, apparently one is for ps1 games and the other for ps2 games...which one should i be using, or does that even matter? when i used the ps2 disc it froze on the 'insert disc' screen, when i used the ps1 disc the screen went black when i swapped and froze there....

try and get a back up on verbatim or tdk reflex and see if that will work...

I had similar problems to this and using Verbatim disks fixed them.

ok, i found some verbatim blanks finally, BUT ... does it make any difference if I use cdr's or cdrw's ? cuz the only 74minute verbatims i've found are cd-rw same with the TDK's.

Don't believe that the PS2 will read CD-RW's. Only CD-R's.
