they're shit, that's all. they're simply tray openers to do the "knife trick" without knife.

Well i guess if you are lucky enough to have a messiah then you can say every other mod is shit but if not then you must deal with what is the best mod at hand. For US v5 owners the no solder chip is a alternative to the neo chips as well as origa. While i agree the origa is the better chip it doesnt work flawless with US v5 consoles. The new no solder chip is not just a tray pusher it contains a dvd chip that allows PSX backups to play without a GS2 unlike the previous no solder mod. The TOC issue as well as the fast tray eject have been corrected so in all its not a bad chip. And yes, it works as advertised.

I have a v5 ps2, bought the non-solder mod chip from lik-sang and, as far as I can tell, it's installed right (it's pretty simple) but the problem is...none of the backups will play. Oh, and ...yeah I do have a gs2. I've tried 4 different games (gta3, nfl gameday 2002, tekken4, and state of emergency) and the closest i came was the gameday which froze when the 989sports screen came up. This is getting a little frustrating, can some one help me out here...plz. Thanks.

There are 3 different r-mods. The first has the fast tray eject. The second version corrected the tray problem, The third version added a dvd chip to it so PSX backups would play without having a gameshark to load them. I have a r mod and i like it. If you are like me and stuck with a ntsc v5 it may be the best mod for it at this time considering neo chips destroy the laser.

The only game i have in the list is GTA3. It is backed up on a dvd-r and plays perfectly using a GS2 and DMC demo to load.
