Im thinking of buying a RICOH 5120 DVD+RW/+R writer. Does anyone know if this can back up PS2 games?, I know i need a mod chip, looking at either Neo 4 or messiah, which is better?, anyway not much point worring about modchip unless dvd writer can back up games. the web site for the ricoh if anyone wants to know is:(http://www.ricoh.co.jp/dvd/asia/drive/mp5120a/spec.html)

it can't. you need a DVD-R capable recorder for that.
as for the mod, the messiah is better. 23 instead of 44 wires, boots everything without swap while neo 4 only boots cdr without swap.

It is not compatable with dvd-r PS2 backups. Buy a pioneer DVR A03 or the A04
