HI THERE CHIPPED 6 PSX2s FOLLOWING YOUR ADVICE ABOUT FITTING A 100V 1 uf CAP. & 230~270 OHM RESISTOR, ALL WORKED OK. (RELIEF) JUST WONDERING WHY A 100V CAP WHEN THE NEO 2.2 CHIP WORKS OFF 5 V ? JUST CURIOUS
PS ALSO TAKEN YOUR ADVICE ABOUT THE TYPE OF WIRE TO USE FOR NEO CHIPS, NEVER TRIED IT YET.
PPS WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INFO FROM? WANT TO SHARE IT? THOUGHT NOT! CHEERS F.T.M.

The neo gives 5 volt to the laser. The laser normaly uses 3,3 volt. If you don`t install it you`ll blow up your laser in no time.

I KNOW THAT BUT WHY 100 V CAP, WHY NOT A 10 V CAP?

it doesn't really matter, I suppose.. there've just been reports of 100V ones working better than lower values.
they cost all the same anyways.

Since you guys are talking about capacitors...

What kind could I use to replace the small yellow microcap that connects point 2 of a
NEO mod on V4 board! I had so much trouble trying to get a MOD to work and different
diagrams had it going to either side of the microcap, about the 3rd time I soldered
to it the metal end came off!

I replaced it with another microcap from a dead PSX 9001, not exactly the same color
so it's probably not the same value, whatever value those tiny things are supposed
to be, I don't know!!? PS2 seems to run fine without that cap but MOD chip would not
work without it! Also the USB MOD I finally got working only boots about 2/3rds of
the time, possibly cuz of the unknown cap I replaced!?

I'm also scared I might cause damage my PS2 with this unknown microcap!

Where does this resistor you guys talk about go?

I don't understand Capacitors! You'd think a 100V Cap would charge to 100 Volts!?
and this is safe with a 3 Volt laser!? I put a 50V 1mf cap on my USB MOD.

a cap doesn`t charge to 100v, it has the maximum working voltage of 100v, anything over about 16v will be fine for the mod.
