What is the best software for creating a DIVX movie file from a DVD movie through my CD-R or CD-RW drive to then be burned onto a CD-R disc?

www.divx-digest.com and www.doom9.net are two sites that are about divx. they have everything needed for creating a divx movie. Both of them also have tutorials for you, to learn a few things. It's not an easy thing to say which programms are the best. All of them have their advantages and disadvantages. For example one programm would be very easy to use but be a little slower than another. There are some programs that stand out though. Reading some tutorials will also help you decide which programs you want to use.

I will take a look at those sites but am wondering if anyone is willing to help a newbie to this at all??

All i know is where to go to download films but there are alot of rather poor or black screen downloads out there, not to mention the film renamed idiots too.

Would like to try making a divx/mpeg/avi etc file as i think i could do better than most as im really interested in trying this but everything seams to be a bit daunting to me so far (being a complete newbie anyways) ;)

I find that BSplayer is the best to play movie files (a bit slow to load up but great) then comes mediaplayer then the Divx The player viewer. I have divx5 at present.
