ripping a dvd video is realy hard to do. There are ps2 consoles that play dvdrw. Those are v5 consoles but not all of them.

i got an hp dvd+rw.
my v5 will play a dvd generated by hp's software. have not tried to rip yet....
but it will read and play the dvd+rw just like a reg dvd.
but am considering sending the hp back for the dvd-r (pioneer)

a ps2 without a modchip can read dvd-r video disc no problem. I made a copy of silent hill 2 the making of and it works with no modchip.
